Family and friends are invited to attend graveside funeral services on Thursday morning, May 2, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Dickson County Memorial Gardens. Kerry Lampley will officiate. Visitation will be on Wednesday evening May 1 st from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. The place of rest will be in the Dickson County Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Thelma Frances Jackson Smith, age 95, of Vanleer, TN died April 29, 2024, at the Tennessee State Veterans Home in Clarksville, TN with her family by her side.
Mrs. Smith was born May 18, 1928, to Arthur and Ruby Hicks Jackson in McEwen, Tennessee. She was the widow of the late John Granville Smith Sr.
She is survived by Hazel Gentner and husband Bill, John (Bubba) Smith Jr. and wife Patty, Brenda Williams, Joe (Buddy) Smith and Linda (Dootsie) Nichols and her husband Shane.12 Grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Frances was known for her prize-winning jam cakes and her fried pies and chicken and dumplings. You were always welcomed into her home or in later years her nursing home room with an offer of something to eat.
In memory of her Southern Hospitality to always offer food, a donation to the Vanleer Elementary School student food pantry 4456 Hwy 49 West, Vanleer, TN 37181 would be welcomed. Frances always delighted in helping others.
