Troy Daniel Rye

Mr. Troy Daniel Rye, age 83 of McEwen, passed away on March 14, 2026, at Three Rivers Hospital in Waverly. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday March 18, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the McEwen Chapel of Luff-Bowen Funeral Home, 9729 US Hwy 70 E, McEwen, TN 37101 with Pastor Della Rye officiating. Entombment will follow in the Dickson County Memorial Gardens Chapel of Prayer Mausoleum. Visitation will take place from 12 noon until the time of service, also at the funeral home.

Troy was born on September 13, 1942, in Humphreys County, TN, to the late Hubert and Ruby (Curtis) Rye. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War in the United States Army.

Mr. Rye was a rural mail carrier for the United States Postal Service for many years in the McEwen area. He was a known jokester. He also had a sweet tooth and loved to make his own banana pudding. He had a love for animals, especially his dogs and miniature horses. He was a collector of guitars, having 10 to 15 at any given time. In his free time, he enjoyed working on his old cars. He especially loved his old Chevrolet.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife: Nancy Doyle Rye; his siblings: Garner Rye, Oron Rye, Herman Rye, Thurman Rye, Opal Rye, and Ophie Rye Dotson; and a nephew: Franklin Rye.

Survivors include his loving wife of nearly 16 years: Gloria Rye of McEwen; his stepdaughters: Melody Johnson, Sherri Miller, Tracey Bailey, and Angela Downey; his nephews: Jamie Rye and Jeff Rye; nieces: Ava Hinson, Amy Reagan, and Kristie Rye Bates; 7 step grandchildren and 5 step great grandchildren.
