A graveside service will take place on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at 4:00 p.m. at the Dickson County Memorial Gardens in Burns, TN with Bro. Wes Sesler officiating. A private, family only viewing will take place prior to the service.
Virginia Abernathy Covington, 91 years of age, passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 19, at Signature Health Care Facility in Cleveland, TN. Born in Giles County, TN, she had been a lifelong resident of Dickson County and a member of Dickson’s Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Charles P. Covington, Jr. and her daughter Virginia Lynn Covington. She is survived by her son Charles and wife Kim of Cleveland, TN, and grandson Chas of Nashville. Survivors also include sister, Nancy Magee, from Lawrenceburg, TN, and host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
A loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother, she lived a fruitful life being a strong follower of Christ. Her strength through all things was shown through her love, kindness, and wit to all who knew her.
As a den mother, a seamstress, a secretary for a local business, or your ‘Avon Lady’ she enjoyed camping, working crossword puzzles, and spending time with family and friends.
The family wants to say a special thank you to the nurses and caregivers at Signature Health Care of Cleveland for their loving care of Virginia.
