My dear Ann…Doug and I wish to send you and your family our condolences on the passing of your bother who lived in Charlotte. Neither of us ever knew your brother as an adult…but we treasure our loving relationship with you and feel like we know him through you. Also, we want to recognize and thank him for his service to our country which we honor and admire. And, we also honor, respect and admire your Mom who we fondly remember after all these years. She worked with Doug’s father at Tennsco for several years and recall his respect for your Mom. We want to come to your brother’s burial service at the military cemetery near us, so let us know when that is scheduled. We love you and miss you and wish you the blessing of His peace which is beyond our understanding. The Buttreys…
Dearest Margret and Doug, How precious it was to read your kind note of condolence. You were so thoughtful to remember my brother and our sweet mother. We were all blessed to grow up with friends like you, whose families loved and welcomed us into their homes. Bill’s service will be Tues, Oct 28th at the Veterans Cemetery. We have decided at this point not to come. We came a few weeks ago when we knew Bill was not going to make it. We wanted to spend time with him while he was alive. Roy does not drive anymore and my family did not want me to drive by myself. Our daughter drove us. Also, I began to have problems with my car this week and now am waiting on parts. I was so glad that we went earlier and spent time with him and his precious wife. Thank you for reaching out to me . I wish so much that I could see you. I do hope there will be a time that we can all be together again. It meant so much to hear from you. Much Iove to you l both. Ann
Allyson, Roy, and Ann…this is a very hard time for all of you and I hate not being able to be there. Billy was, is, and always will be my brother. It hurts my heart to know that he is no longer with us but I am satisfied that he has made things right with God and is at home waiting on us. God bless you all. Yours truly Harry
Bill was a fine soldier who I remember very well from my service as a captain in the 3d Battalion, 187th Infantry, at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He left us all too soon. Bill was a good man, with a good heart. He always had a kind word for everyone and made a positive difference for his fellow soldiers and our great battalion. God rest his soul and bring comfort to his family. All those who had the pleasure to serve with “Billy,” will miss his him. he leaves behind a great legacy of service to the nation during hard times. God bless Billy Fowlkes.
