William Ligie Sensing, age 89 of Dickson, TN died on Sunday, March 22, 2026.  A visitation with the family is scheduled for Saturday, April 4, 2026 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Taylor Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Mr. Sensing was born on June 25, 1936 in Dickson County.  He was a son of the late Zelma Warren Sensing and the late Irene Garrett Sensing.  For many years he worked for Henry I. Siegel Mfg. (H.I.S.), and later for Dickson County Waste Management at a convenience site.  William was an accomplished musician, and he loved bluegrass music.  He didn’t read music, but he could play just about every instrument he picked up including guitar, fiddle, banjo and french harp.  From the 1950’s to the 80’s he played music all over middle TN.  Mostly playing a mandolin with Earl McCollum and the Dixie Ramblers.  They would entertain in restaurants, events such as Old Timer’s Day, and venues including the Grand Ole Opry.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Claytie Marie Cunningham Sensing; 3 brothers, Harold, Wallace and Danny Sensing; and 2 sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Edwards, and Mrs. Margaret Myatt.

William is survived by his 2 sons, Dale Sensing (Wanda), and David Sensing (Brenda); 3 brothers, Wayne Sensing, Joel Sensing, and Thomas Sensing; 2 sisters, Mrs. Christine Nicks, and Mrs. Linda Cantrell.  He was “Pepaw” to 4 grandchildren, Billy Wayne Sensing, Jessica Lee Whited, David Dewayne Sensing, and Timothy Charles Sensing; as well as 6 great grandchildren, William “Bear” Sensing, Adalynn Sensing, Lucas Sensing, Olivia Sensing, Tyler Whited, Alex Whited.
