A memorial service will take place on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home. Entombment will follow in the Dickson County Memorial Gardens, Chapel of Prayer Mausoleum. Visitation with the family will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 2, 2022 and from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday, September 3, 2022.
William Paul Thompson, age 89, of Dickson, TN, passed from this life on August 23, 2022.
William was born February 11, 1933, in Dunkirk, NY to the late Gordon W. Thompson and Anna M. Bolger Thompson. He served in the United States Navy for 23 years, retiring as CPO E7 rank. He played the accordion, was an auctioneer, and loved to crochet and make quilts. He also worked for a time at TN Biscuit and Red Cap. He was married to his wife, Betty for nearly 67 years. For their 65 th Anniversary, they were interviewed by a reporter for the Dickson Post.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers.
He is survived by his wife; Betty Ruth Street Thompson of Dickson, TN, his sons; John Thompson (Analyn) of Dickson, TN, Paul Thompson (Alice) of Dickson, TN, William Thompson of Jacksonville, Fla, Charley Thompson (Tammy) of Dickson, TN, Grandchildren; Elizabeth Smith, Christopher Thompson, Betty An Thompson, Ruth Thompson, Russell Thompson, Walter Thompson, Margaret Thompson, Great-Grandchildren; Shallah Smith, Mecca Smith and several cousins.
