Born in Dickson County, Tennessee, Charles was the son of the late Charles E., Sr. and Bonnie Frazier Bruce. He was a graduate of Dickson High School and played football for the Dickson Dragons. He served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was married for 67 years to the former Muriel Carley (Bruce) until her death last year. Charles was proud of having served as a police officer for the Miami Police Department. He then worked until retirement in Pipefitters Union #725. He was a 60-year member of Coconut Grove Masonic Lodge #258, Free and Accepted Masons. When he and Muriel came home to Dickson, he spent his time as a devoted husband to Muriel, a farmer, and as a loving brother to his seven sisters. He loved gardening and helping can and preserve home-grown fruits and vegetables. He will be missed by his family and friends. Besides his parents and wife, Charles was preceded in death by two sisters, Billie Chester and Margie Hamilton.
Survivors include his sisters, Mary Lee Mackie, Nashville, Jane Mott, Dickson, Betsy Flick, Nashville, Tommie Vest, Alabama, and Frances Unruh, Indiana; beloved caregivers, April and Tim Lyle and their children, Chris, Zach, and Bethany Lyle, all of Dickson; several nieces and nephews.
