LT. Col. Betty Jean Wyatt, (USAF Retired), age 92 of Dickson, TN died on Saturday, October 15, 2022, in Nashville, TN. 

Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, October 24, 2022 at the St. Christopher Catholic Church in Dickson, TN.  Place of rest will be in the Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery.  Visitation will be held at the Taylor Funeral Home on Sunday, October 23, 2022 from 1:00 PM until 6:00 PM. 

For those desiring, memorials may be made to the St. Christopher Catholic Church, or to the Humane Society of Dickson County. 

Betty was born September 19, 1930 in Houston County, Tennessee.  She was a daughter of the late Halford and Odessa Elliott Wyatt.  She graduated nursing school in Detroit, Michigan.  In the 1950’s she was selected as a Detroit Street Railway beauty queen and held the titles of “Miss DSR” and “Miss Torchy.”  Betty was a Retired Veteran of the United States Air Force.  She entered into service as a nurse in February of 1962.  She served over 26 years, and was stationed on base in England, Japan, and Spain. 

After retirement from the Air Force, Betty moved to Orlando, Florida.  She had a profound love for pets, especially those needing to find a new home.  She was a founding member of the Golden Retriever Rescue of Mid-Florida, which is now celebrating its 31st year.    

Betty was a faithful member at St. Christopher Catholic Church.  She was instrumental in the founding and function of the Caring Hearts Committee at St. Christopher. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Frances Brack, and James “Jim” Wyatt.

Betty Wyatt is survived by her sister, Carolyn Laughner of Nashville, TN; and her brother, JW Wyatt (Gail) of Houston County.  Also surviving are 5 nieces, 5 nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews.
