Born in Dickson County, Jim was the seventh son of the late Arthur Chester and Susie Clark Reynolds. He was happily married for 70 years to Ruby Lee Hamilton Reynolds, who preceded him in death in September 2021. He was beloved by his four children, Sharon, Victoria, Landon and Janice, along with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

For more than 50 years, Jim dedicated his life to the Church of Christ, serving as a minister at Vanleer Church of Christ, Pomona Church of Christ, among other churches in Tennessee. Jim proudly devoted his life to the U.S. Military, serving 20 years in the U.S. Army — including the Korean and Vietnam conflicts — and retiring in the rank of Sergeant First Class. He later joined Civil Air Patrol in the rank of  Lieutenant Colonel and served as a chaplain.

As taught by his own father, Jim became a master carpenter, architect and real estate developer. He leaves a legacy of several impressive homes he designed and built across Tennessee, and a large subdivision he created on Highway 46 in Dickson. Jim and Ruby also owned and operated the Hamilton Place retail store in Dickson. Throughout their marriage, Jim and Ruby traveled the globe, but their favorite place in the world was home in Dickson.
