Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, April 17, 2023 at the St. Christopher Catholic Church.  Visitation will be held at the Taylor Funeral Home on Sunday, April 16, 2023 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM, a Rosary will be held at 6:00 PM.

Mark was born in San Diego, Ca, the son of Leo Herman and Patricia Ruth Engele. He spent most of his childhood in Mystic, Ct. Mark was always fascinated with fire trucks, so no one was surprised when he joined the Volunteer Fire Department at age 15. He also served in Volunteer Fire Departments in Pennsylvania, and in Texas where he fought many oil
storage tank fires and range wildfires in Howard County, serving almost 33 years before relocating to Dickson, Tennessee. Mark was multi-talented and earned his living in a wide variety of trades. He started out working as a dishwasher and became a prep cook and then line cook. Mark loved to cook and worked in various restaurants. Mark also worked in the oilfields in Texas and as a mechanic. He was a tow truck operator in Big Spring, TX, for Action Wrecker and was praised by many state troopers for his work. Above all Mark was a hard worker throughout his life and the best friend you could have. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, fixing vehicles, bowling, barbecuing, and spending time with family and friends.

Mark was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Ruth Engele of Dickson.

He is survived by his son, Mark Leo Engele, Jr., an Army combat medic stationed at Fort Benning, Ga; his Father Leo Herman Engele, of Dickson; his sister Jennifer Jernigan, and family of Clarksville, Tn; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
