Gynnath K. Ford, age 90, longtime minister died peacefully April 27, 2023 at NHC The Trace.

For over 60 years, he served as a Church of Christ minister at congregations in both Pennsylvania and Tennessee. In addition to his work in local congregations, he also led motivational programs in churches throughout the United States. Beyond preaching and speaking, he used his passion for writing as a vessel for ministry. He authored over 40 tracts and wrote three motivational books, Power to Become What God Wants You To Be, Power to Win Even When You’re Losing and Keep Your Dreams Alive Until They Come True.

He had a great love for singing and was particularly fond of gospel hymns. He would often spontaneously burst into song during a sermon or even at home while spending time with his family. He was still singing one his favorites, “I’ll Fly Away,” a few days before his death.

Attending sporting events was a favorite pastime and he would often be seen at both basketball and baseball games for his alma mater Lipscomb University, accompanied by his grandson, Ben Howard.

An avid movie buff, he wrote two more books, Treasures Of The Silver Screen Remembering 20th Century Movies and Movie Treasures Of The ‘40s & ‘50s, to share his love of movies with others.

He was preceded in death by his son, Jeff Ford; his grandson, Robert Riall; his mother, Kate Puckett Ford Neill; his father, Dennis Ford, and his brother, Jerry Ford.

Gynnath is survived by his wife, Ruth, the love of his life for 69 years; children Corinne (Bobby) Riall; Diane (Russell) Howard and Rebecca (Todd) Fortner; grandchildren Joe, Ben, Elizabeth, Mary, Margaret, Hannah, Evangeline, Susanna, Josiah, Lilian and Lucretia; and eighteen great-grandchildren.
