Funeral services will take place on Thursday, June 1, 2023, at 12 noon from the Chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Jeffery Norfleet Sr. giving the eulogy. A burial will follow in the Dickson County Memorial Gardens. Viewing will begin at 2pm on Wednesday, May 31, 2023. Visitation with the family will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. until time of service.
Maureen Corlew Brand was born April 17, 1936, in Dickson, Tennessee. She departed this life to eternal life at the age of 87, on May 24, 2023.
Maureen was born to the late parents of Lee Roger and Annie Mae Corlew. She was baptized during her early years at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Nashville, Tennessee. Later she united with her family at McGavock Chapel AME Church in Charlotte, Tennessee. There she sang in the choir and served as a faithful member.
She was employed for years at John W. Galberth Company in Nashville, Tennessee.
Maureen will be remembered for her infectious smile and her loving personality. She loved family gatherings, spending quality time with her family, cooking her famous chicken and dressing, meatloaf, and other tasty dishes. Her favorite pastime was watching the Andy Griffith Show and listening to her favorite gospel group, the Williams Brothers.
She preceded in death by her parents, Lee Roger and Annie Mae Corlew; three children, Willisa Brand, Steven Brand and Kent Collier; two brothers, Altamont Corlew and O’Neil Corlew.
Maureen leaves to cherish her memories, Stanley (Traci) Corlew of Nashville, Tennessee, Shelia (Ronnie) Arnell of Nashville, Tennessee, and Anthony (Alisha) Brand of White Bluff, Tennessee; one brother, Robert L. (Mary D.) of Dickson, Tennessee. She also leaves her grandchildren, great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Two devoted friends, Lois Fossie and Alene Dixon.
