Peggy Herron Johnson died peacefully on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, just 4 days after her 89th birthday She was born on August 4, 1934 in Hickman County Tennessee.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd Bowden Tidwell and Alice Gossett Tidwell, her brother, Ellis Tidwell and sister Thelma Bruce, her husbands, John William Herron and James Elton Johnson and her stepson, Danny Herron.
Visitation with the family will be Saturday, August 19, 2023 from 11:00 - 2:00 at the Taylor Funeral Home. A private family service will be held graveside at Memory Gardens in Centerville, Tennessee. Her grandchildren and family will officiate.
Peggy graduated from Hickman County High school where she was voted “Best Figure”. She went on to marry Bill Herron and raise her two children in Dickson, Tennessee.
After the death of her husband, she opened Minishop Boutique where ladies loved to gather, visit, laugh and talk while trying on clothes.
After marrying Elton Johnson, they moved to Centerville Tennessee where she started her second career becoming a Real Estate Agent. She opened her own company along with Alan Gilbert, Gilbert and Johnson Real Estate. She loved being on the square, eating at Breeces , watching people come and go and meeting new people moving to Hickman County.
Peggy was an avid golfer. She had a wonderful group of ladies who would drop everything at a moment's notice to go to the golf course. She also may have run over a few friends and others with her haphazard golf cart skills. She loved life to the fullest. She was a prime target for family to do a good deep gut laughing practical joke on, and it was many. Mimi was always welcome to travel with the kids. Just to be around her was a constant source of entertainment.
She loved her trips to Florida and golf outings with her lifelong best friend, Ann McClellan.
She was a member of the Centerville Church of Christ and Walnut Street Church of Christ.
Peggy is survived by her children Billirene Herron Crosby (Dr. Bill), Greg Herron (Judy), Cynthia Johnson Marvin (Tommy) her grandchildren, Rob Marvin (Misty), Abby Marvin, Drew Crosby (Wendy), John Crosby (Shelly), Emory Crosby (Destinee), and Ellen Crosby, Carrie Herron Nemeth (Jordan), Cody Herron (Brigitta), Hayley Herron Powell (Bryan) Her great - grandchildren Cullom Marvin, Bo Marvin, Charlie Marvin, Briggs Marvin, Tucker Nemeth, Bo Nemeth, Ty Nemeth, Riley Powell, Emmett Powell, Henry Herron Crosby, Carolyn Ruth and Evelyn Crosby.
