Robert (Bob) Churchill, age 90, of Dickson TN, passed away at the home of Charles and Thuy Holt in West Nashville after a brief fight with brain cancer. Bob Churchill was born on May 22, 1933 in Ellisville, IL to George L. Churchill and Leone Locke Churchill. On the family farm he helped to raise all types of livestock including cattle, sheep, and hogs. He attended the teacher’s college at Normal IL and received his bachelor’s degree at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Bob served in the Army at Fort Hood, TX and then married Marguerite Jean Carus in 1955. For many years, Bob Churchill was an entrepreneur in Dickson. He was one of the founding members of the Dickson Livestock Center, and developed an innovative pen system designed to lower stress on the livestock as they moved through the sale barn and auction ring. He later was the owner of The Barn Crafts Store. He was active in the Dickson Chamber of Commerce, serving as president in 1979. He also enjoyed square dancing with the Dickson Highlanders.
Bob faithfully cared for his second wife, Jean Corlew Gourley for many years as she struggled with dementia, and he inspired everyone who knew about his kindness and dedication to ‘Miss Jean.’ During this difficult time, Bob was supported by his treasured friends at the ROMEO club of Dickson (Retired Old Men Eat Out). Bob also volunteered to distribute the Dickson Chatterbox to businesses on Main Street. He loved people and wanted a reason to visit with them. After Jean’s passing, Bob was able to indulge in his passion for real estate and tirelessly researched properties to add to his portfolio with the help of Debbie Spurlock with Red Bird Realty. Bob was also a long-time member of the Dickson Civitan’s Club. He attended the Dickson Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his first wife Marguerite Carus Churchill, and his second wife, Jean Corlew Gourley; and by brothers Wayne Churchill and Max Churchill.

He is survived by his daughters and their spouses, his six grandchildren, and two great grandchildren: Cathleen Churchill Holt, Nancy Churchill and Ernest P Bach III; his grandchildren Andrew Holt, Charles Holt, Robert Holt and Wando Holt, Alexander Churchill-Moulder and Grace Churchill-Moulder, and great grandchildren Aiden and Sadie Holt.
