 Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home. Bro. Gary Anderson will officiate.  Visitation will be Tuesday, August 29th from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday beginning at 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Ray Allen Taylor, age 86 of Dickson, TN formerly of Kingston Springs, TN died peacefully August 27, 2023, at Tri Star Horizon Medical Center with his family by his side.

He was born in Cheatham County to the late Joe A. and Anna Belle Creech Taylor.  He was preceded in death by his wife; Betty Jo Taylor, his step- daughter; Connie Dunn and his step granddaughter Christy Jo Dunn. He later met and married Lynn Haynes and they found joy between them for six years.

Since marrying Lynn, he moved to Dickson and enjoyed life to it fullest.  He was a man about town always seeing his long- time friends and making many new friends.   Ray Allen loved a fun and happy life sharing his contagious smile and outgoing personality to everyone he met. He and Lynn spent countless hours at the Dickson Senior Center enjoying all the activities they offered.  He loved to dance, he loved music, and he was totally committed to the game of Bingo. He was even known to have tried to cancel a doctor’s appointment just so he could be present for Bingo. Ray Allen was a sharp dresser. Always dressing for the occasion, Christmas, Easter, Fourth of July…whatever the occasion he dressed to fit the part.

Ray Allen was longtime member of Shacklett Church of Christ where he worshiped faithfully.  He loved his church family and attended in person for as long as he could.  He was a retired farmer and a 25-year retiree from Sears.  He later owned and operated Taylor’s Vacuum Service. Coming from a long line of Harpeth River families, he was raised to help tend his father’s land in farming and the family-owned and operated Taylor’s Grocery at the Harpeth River bridge on Hwy 70, a long time institution in its day.

Survivors include his wife; Lynn Haynes Taylor, his daughters; Debra Rae Taylor Mangrum (Wayne)and Carolyn Deanne Taylor Mangrum (Robert), his stepson; James Larry Street, his stepdaughter; Jenny Lynn Street Stringer, his stepchildren; Kenneth Kirk (Mary Jean), Kelly Kirk Overton (Jeff), Kara Kirk Hinerman (Pete) and Ben Blankenship (Cori). His nephew; Troy McCord.  Six grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
