Funeral services will be conducted Saturday afternoon, September 16, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. from the chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home. Lavar Loudermilk Reed, age 79, of White Bluff, TN died Sunday September 10, 2023 at NHC in Dickson

She was born in Mt. Airy, Georgia and later her family moved to Kingston Springs to reside. She was the daughter of the late Archie and Leatrice Ione Gibson Loudermilk.

 Lavar attended Cheatham County High School and graduated in the Class of 1962. While in high school she excelled in basketball and there she met and later married the love of her life, Wade Reed. They have been married for 60 years. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmomma. She worked in her early years at the corporate office of Kentucky Fried Chicken and later Lavar worked professionally at one time as a beautician and finished her career up with working with Benefit Programs as a secretary. She worked with them for some 17 years.

Lavar had a love and passion for UK Basketball.  She followed them with great enthusiasm. She and Wade loved to travel and have successfully traveled to all the states except Hawaii. She loved to play board games with the grands, loved to play cards and truly owned a game of corn hole. Lavar loved the beautiful music of the late great Elvis Presley.

Lavar appreciated the beauty and quality of fine antiques and enjoyed collecting them and enjoying her collection. She had an eye for nice antique pieces and especially her antique oil lamps.

She and Wade are faithful members of the Chapel Hill Church of Christ, the church that they were married in some 60 years ago.

Survivors include her husband, Wade Reed, her daughter; Kellye Stephens and her husband, Craig of Port Clinton, Ohio, her two grandchildren; Kamil and Canna Stephens, her brother; Al Loudermilk of Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her sister Mamie Ione “Toots” Siler and a brother; Larry Loudermilk.
