 Funeral services will be conducted Thursday evening, September 14, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. from the Walnut Street Church of Christ with his son, Kevin White officiating and Steve Baggett leading singing. Visitation will be on Thursday evening beginning at 4:00 p.m. until time of service.  Graveside services will be on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at the Thayer Cemetery in Thayer, Missouri.
 Those desiring, memorials are suggested to the Freed- Hardeman Donna White Memorial Scholarship Fund.
  Charles White, 88 of Dickson, Tennessee passed from this life on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 after a brief illness. He was born on Sunday, November 18, 1934 in Desloge, Missouri to Floyd and Alpha White, and walked on this earth for 32,441 days. At the age of 7, his family moved to St. Louis, Missouri, where he was raised.

   He met the love of his life, Ava Honeycutt, while he was working at Fisher Autobody and she was working for Sears Roebuck. They were married on July 1, 1956. They were faithfully and lovingly married for 67 years. Soon after marriage, Dad pursued a college degree in Bible at Freed-Hardeman College and Oklahoma Christian College. Mr. White became a full-time minister and remained in ministry for over 58 years. He preached full-time for congregations in the churches of Christ in Jack’s Creek, TN, Cherokee Hills in Oklahoma City, North National in Springfield, MO, Stadium Blvd in Columbia, MO, East Peoria in East Peoria, IL, Southside in Ozark, MO, Hollister in Branson, TN and Shipp’s Bend in Centerville, TN. Following his retirement, Charles, Ava and special needs son, Kyle, moved to Dickson, TN where they have resided for over 21 years. The White’s are members of the Walnut Street Church of Christ in Dickson.

   Mr. White is survived by wife, Ava Honeycutt White, sons Kyle White of Dickson, Kevin (Delana) White of Lebanon, TN and daughter, Dana (Philip) McKelvy of Bartlett, TN. He also leaves behind two sisters, Inez Bockhoff of St. Louis, MO, and Wanda Baldridge of Fenton, MO. Mr. White is also survived by grandchildren: Ashley (Aaron) Schmitt-Matzen of Cookeville, TN, Brandon White of Columbia, TN, Dhanielle (Brett) Cursey of MS, Camryn McKelvy and Holden McKelvy of Bartlett, TN, Samantha & Sawyer Mosley of Lebanon, TN. In addition, he is also survived by great grandchildren: Liam, Harper, Nora and Lenox. He also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Donna White of Dickson, TN and sister Ann Widger of Florissant, MO.

   Mr. White was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and was a lifelong donor of blood with the American Red Cross. In addition to giving platelets and plasma , Mr. White donated more than 44 gallons of blood in his lifetime with the last donation made this summer. An avid golfer, he played every week with his golfing buddies at Montgomery Bell State Park Golf Course and occasionally was able to score lower than his age over the course of 18 holes. Charles was also an avid St. Louis Cardinal Baseball Fan and followed them passionately his entire life.

   He was a man of deep faith, totally devoted to his family and was known as someone with a great sense of humor. He touched lives everywhere he went and will be greatly missed by all who shared life with him. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Donna White Memorial Scholarship Fund at Freed-Hardeman University.
