Funeral services for Dean will be Friday, September 22, 2023, at 1:00PM from the chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home. Bro. Steve Baggett will officiate. Visitation will also be Friday, beginning at 11:00AM until the time of service. Burial will follow in the Dickson County Memorial Gardens. To view a livestream of the service, please click HERE.

Virginia Dean Peppers Byrd, age 88, of Dickson, TN, died Sunday, September 17, 2023, at her home following a brief illness. She was fortunate to spend her final days at home with her children caring for her.

Dean was born in Lawrenceburg, TN. She was the second youngest of twelve children, born to Dilmos and Annie Peppers. She graduated from Lawrence County High School and soon moved to Nashville to find employment. She not only found employment, but the man, Luther Byrd, she would marry and spend the rest of her life with.

Dean is retired from The Hermitage, home of President Andrew Jackson. She served in many capacities, but mostly as a Docent, or tour guide. She also served her community as a volunteer with meals on wheels.

Dean was a kind and loving person who never met a stranger. She loved spending time with family and friends. Dean was a devout Christian, and a faithful member of the Church of Christ. She was a member of the Walnut Street Church of Christ.

She is survived by her children; Matt Byrd (Kim) of Ft. Walton Beach, Fl, Jeff Byrd of Mt. Juliet, TN, Judy Johnson (Dale) of Kingston Springs, TN, Gina Daniels (Vince) of Scottsdale, AZ, Nancy Byrd (Nancy Crivello) of Idledale, CO, grandchildren; Alex Byrd (Dionna), Caitlin Carter Callaway (Crosser), Hope Daniels (Laura), Gray Daniels, Chelsea Carter, great-grandchildren; Tilley, Victoria, Willow, and Lennon.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; Luther Byrd, grandson; Todd Byrd, and eleven brothers and sisters.
