Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at 2:00PM from the chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home. Raymond Burns will give the eulogy. Visitation will be on Thursday, beginning at 12 Noon until the time of service.

Robert James Burns, age 50, of Dickson, TN, passed away September 16, 2023.

Robert was born on September 30, 1972, to Ernestine “Teena” Strickland and the late Robert James Hogues. He departed this life after a brief illness and battling MS. He was born in Nashville, TN and spent his childhood in Camden, TN, before moving to Dickson, TN, as a teenager. He attended Dickson County High School.

Robert confessed his love for Christ at an early age. In 2001, he married Tammy Sims Burns and unto this union three children were born. Robert loved nature, fishing, and he also loved to cook. He enjoyed having a good time with family and friends. He often found peace of mind just sitting on his porch gazing up at the sky. Robert loved his family and couldn’t help but be a mamma’s boy because he was the only boy.

He also loved his brother from another mother, Charlie Cook. They became friends at the age of 5 and never looked back.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Tonya of Seattle, WA.

Robert leaves to mourn, his wife, Tammy Burns of Dickson, TN, his children, Isaiah Burns of Dickson, TN, Darian Burns of Dickson, TN, Tiana Burns of Dickson, TN, Dalyah Hinton of Nashville, TN, Kelsey of Hopkinsville, 8 grandchildren, his mother, Ernestine “Teena” Strickland of Dickson, TN, stepfather, Joseph (Joyce) Strickland of Dickson, TN, sisters, Mary A. Carter of Dickson, TN, Kimberly (David) McCord of Smyrna, TN, Sheatikia (Daren) Hollingsworth of Dickson, TN, Sharrie Strickland of Dickson, TN, Jackie Menzie of Nashville, TN, Monica of Nashville, TN, brother (special friend) Charlie Cook (Lori) of Waverly, TN, his great aunt, Roberta Burns of Nashville, TN, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
