Norma S. Drake, age 89 of Nashville, TN died on October 22, 2023 at the Alive Hospice Residence in Nashville, TN.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at the Taylor Funeral Home with Paul Nelson officiating. Her place of rest will be in the Adams Cemetery on Nancy Shawl Road, Dickson, TN. The visitation will be held on Wednesday from 11:00 AM until the time of service. Mrs. Drake was born on April 30, 1934 in Nashville, TN. She was a daughter of the late Joseph Lewis Smith and Clarice Pendergrass Smith. Norma was a precious soul and who was much loved. She had become the family matriarch, recognized as “Mimi” to her grandchildren, and having earned the title of “Aunt Mother” to numerous family and friends. Norma’s family and her faith in God were always an important part of her life and how she lived. She had retired from AT&T after over 35 years of service.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Baxter Drake; and her brothers, Joe and Lewis Smith.
Mrs. Drake is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Lashlee (Stephen); her granddaughter, Heather N. Church (Michael); great granddaughter, Savannah Grace Church; her siblings, James Romuald Smith (Charlene), Paul Smith (Mary), Connie Schmutz (Phil), and Michael Smith. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.
