James Wallace Hagewood, age 49 of Dickson, TN died on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at Horizon Medical Center. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, November 20, 2023 at the Taylor Funeral Home with Ministers Steve Baggett and Dan Wade officiating. Burial will follow in the Union Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Sunday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Memorials may be made to West Dickson Church of Christ, Dickson Human Society, or the American Heart Association in Mr. Hagewood’s honor.
Mr. James Hagewood was born on May 29, 1974 in Nashville, TN to the late Marsha and Robert Hagewood. James worked for the City of Dickson in the Publics Works Division. He loved spending time with his family and time on the farm. James loved to make people happy by showing them love. He often would surprise them by doing random acts of kindness. Often, he would borrow his children’s car or his wife’s car to fill up the gas tank, or he might have packed extra food or snacks in his lunch box to share with coworkers. Those are just a few ways he shared kindness. If he wasn’t spending time with family or friends, you could find him on the farm spending time with the cattle or riding the tractor. Not that he had “Favorite Cows” but, Moody, Princess, and Buddy were very special to him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Rebecca; son, James “Scott” Hagewood of Dickson; daughter, Bethany Hagewood of Dickson; brother, Robert Hagewood (Francie) of Waverly; sister, Shasity Mayberry of Dickson; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, cats, dogs, and of course cows.
