She worked most of her life in banking.  She worked with the Farmers and Merchants Bank in White Bluff, the former Stayton Bank and Trust and retired from the United American Bank as Vice President. She also spent endless hours volunteering at the Tri-Star Horizon Medical Center.  She was a former President of the Dickson Business and Professional Women’s Club. She was a longtime and faithful member of the White Bluff Church of Christ where for years she taught a Ladies Bible class.

She did find some spare time to quilt and loved every minute of it.  She was known for her excellent cooking talent with banana pudding and chocolate meringue pies being her signature desserts. Another talent she could share with everyone was being an exceptional seamstress. Betty Jean loved her flower garden and raised every color of iris she could find.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.  Her family and friends were her life.
