Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. from the chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home. Dr. Reverend T. J. Debnam will deliver her Eulogy. Dr. Randy Ramey will be the Officiant. The visitation will be held on Tuesday beginning at 11:00 a.m. until time of service. Mrs. Delois Irene Anderson Fossie, age 87, a lifelong resident of Dickson County, died peacefully December 15, 2023, at her home with her children by her side.

She was born in Charlotte, TN and was the daughter of the late Herbert and Clara Bell Anderson.  Mrs. Fossie was a graduate of Hampton High School, class of 1955. She was preceded in death by her brothers; Thomas Herbert, Sterling Ray, Walton (Rook) and Richard Anderson.

She and her late husband, Milton Fossie, her high school sweetheart, were the founders, owners, and operators of Dickson’s famous Fossie BBQ.   Not only are they known for their good BBQ, but also Mrs. Fossie’s legendary fried pies. In her earlier years she worked at the former Dickson General Hospital, Red Cap Industries, H. I. S (Henry I. Seigal), Holiday Inn, and Montgomery Bell State Park.

She was a faithful member of the Bowman Chapel United Methodist Church where she was in the choir, the Union Choir, a member of the United Methodist Women and a Communion Steward. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. In her community service work, she was recognized and received the award of Outstanding and Dedicated Community Service 2006, NAACP, the Humanitarian Award Bowman Chapel, and the Community Leadership award in 2023.

To forever cherish her memory, her son; Gregory Carnell Fossie (Tina), daughters; Rosalind Alfreda Sowell ( Bobby) and Regina Fay Ramey (David), her grandchildren; Tijuana (Tia) Collier, Brandon Fossie, Trazuana Fossie, Markeece Fossie, Darius Corlew, Zharia Corlew, Jaylen Fossie and Devin Bryant, her great grandchildren; Alia Collier, Aniyah Collier, Mikhi Fossie, Jaden Fossie, Milyejah Fossie, Micah Fossie, Karman Fossie, Zamiyah Fossie, Kamiyah Fossie and Brixton Fossie, her Brother-in-law; Marvin Fossie, Sister-in-law, Linda Anderson Robertson and Bettie Jean Robertson, A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and her Bowman Chapel Family.
