Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, December 22, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor Harvey Anders officiating. Interment will follow in the Nosegay Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 22, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service also at the funeral home.
Bishop Edward C. Kephart, Jr., age 90 of White Bluff, went to be with Jesus on December 18, 2023, at NHC of Dickson. He was born on June 27, 1933, in Charlotte, TN, to the late Edward C. Kephart, Sr. and Essie Kephart Smith.
Ed served his country proudly in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was also an avid gardener, as he was known all over the county for his gardening skills. He also loved to fish and to research his ancestry. He was married for over 64 years before his wife preceded him in death in 2021. He was a Pastor for over 50 years in the Church of God, leading countless people to the Lord. He headed up the chaplain ministry at Horizon Medical Center, where he served in that role for over 9 years. He also studied to obtain both his Masters and Doctoral degrees in divinity. Bro. Kephart was a true man of God that left a lasting legacy on many lives.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Carolyn Patrick Kephart; and his sister: Bernice Hinson.
Survivors include his children: James Edward Kephart (Debbie) of Lawrenceburg, and Edwina Carol Slone of White Bluff; and his grandchildren: Nicholas Slone and Kristyn Kephart.
