     Visitation with the family will be Saturday December 23, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Taylor Funeral Home.
     Joe Hulon Daugherty, age 70, passed away peacefully on December 20,2023. He was born December 18,1953 to the late Hulon and Jean Daugherty. He was a Member of the Burns Methodist Church. Joe married the love of his life Connie Sue Brown on June 29, 1973. They had two daughters Joey Michelle & Christi Lynn. During Joe’s life he had achieved many goals and was a Jack of all trades, but most of all he cherished was being a father to his girls and a papa to his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. During his younger years he was a lifeguard as a teenager. Joe had gone to work at Ford Glass Plant for many years as a Machinist and also becoming a union rep for the UAW. Joe also was a prominent citizen of the Town of Burns, Serving as a volunteer fireman then later becoming a council member, then being the first mayor to ever be voted in by the people of the town of Burns. During his time as mayor he also went on and achieved his LPN license. He also worked for the Dickson County ambulance service in which he truly loved.
     Joe loved playing softball and basketball. Eventually coaching many teams in Burns leading him to umpiring High School softball. His Favorite thing was being a Papa to 7 grandchildren and 2 Great grandchildren. There is no doubt that Joe touched a number of lives he was important to everyone and his legacy will live on and the good he did in this community and the lives of everyone who knew him we hope that you will all be able to join us by celebrating the man that we all knew and loved.
     Joe is survived by his wife of 50 years Connie Daugherty of Burns, TN; his daughter Joey Daugherty-Tidwell of Burns, TN;grandchildren, Ansley Sommermeyer (Sam) of Burns, TN, Alec Eleazer ofKnoxville, TN, Jackson Tidwell of Burns, TN, Madalyn Tidwell, Ayden Eleazer,Sophia Tidwell, Jase Puckett; great-grandchildren, Ava Sommemeyer and Jacob Walker Sommemeyer; siblings, James Daugherty (Debbie) of Dickson, TN and Jina Luther of Spokane, WA.

     Preceded in death by his daughter Christi Eleazer and his parents, Hulon and Jean Daugherty of Burns, TN.
