     Funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon, February 2, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. from the chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home. Mike Tucker and Matthew Hiatt officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday evening, February 1st from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday beginning at 11:00 a.m. until time of service. Place of rest will be in the EverRest Cemetery in Cheatham County. Those desiring, memorials are suggested to Camp Leatherwood. To view a livestream of the service, please click HERE.  
     Mr. Jere Wayne Smith, age 86, of Burns, TN died peacefully January 29, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
     Jere Wayne Smith was born to Ernest Smith and Pauline Dowlen in Chattanooga. A dedicated student, he excelled in class and played several musical instruments including trumpet. Jere served in the U.S. Army and was deployed to Korea. He loved to share stories of servicemen and civilians he treated as a medical specialist.
     Jere met Joan Barrett in 1961 and the couple married in 1962 while both were attending school at Nashville General Hospital. He became a radiological technologist and perfected his craft over multiple decades at multiple hospitals with most of his years treating patients at Nashville Memorial Hospital (now Skyline Medical Center).
     There wasn’t a thing Jere couldn’t fix and was self-taught in many of his hobbies. He loved photography, woodworking, working on cars, spending time in his workshop, and riding his tractor. Jere was blessed to be a member of Chapel Hill church of Christ.
     Survived by his wife of nearly 62 years, Joan; sister Beverly Walden; sister-in-love Benny McCaslin; daughter Jennifer Martin, daughter-in-law Lisa Smith; grandsons Garren (Sarah) Smith, Matthew (Hanna), Andrew (Jenny), Coleman (Taylor) Dove, and Jackson Martin; granddaughters Sydney Smith, Taylor Smith and Audrey Martin; great-grandchildren Alveya Smith, Caleb Dove, Belle Smith, Sullivan Dove, Desmond Dove and Atreus Smith.

     Preceded in death by his parents and sons, Eric Smith and Bryan Smith.
