Diane Lowe Simmons, age 68 of McEwen, TN, passed from this life on February 4, 2024, at Signature Healthcare of Erin. She was born on November 21, 1955, to the late Augustus E. Lowe and Eula Myrtle Spicer. Diane was a Christian, a mom, a Ma (grandmother) a sister, an aunt, and an extra mom for kids who needed her. She loved photography (especially when she was making pictures of her beloved grandchildren). She loved to travel – with her camera of course. She loved to crochet and sew and enjoyed teaching Augusta to sew. She was an avid reader – never far from her Kindle filled with murder mysteries.
Diane was a late-in-life baby. Her sister, Reba, claimed that she was spoiled because of that – and the fact that her mom was too tired to keep up with her. But she turned out okay despite the spoiling. Diane and Reba were never far apart in their later years, becoming great friends in addition to being sisters.
Diane will be fiercely missed by her loved ones, but they’re comforted knowing she’s in Heaven with her parents, sister, brother-in-law, and many friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister: Reba Edlin and brother in law; Russell Edlin.
Survivors include her children: Laura Wright (Jarrod) of McEwen, and Spencer Simmons (April) of Milton, TN; her grandchildren: Cade Wright, Augusta Wright, Luke Wright, Finn Simmons, and Judah Simmons; her nieces: Maria King (Ronnie) and Cathy Ivey; and her honorary daughter: Mandalyn Ringer (Brad).
