 Funeral services for Jamie Earl “Jim” Deleary, age 74 of Dickson, will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 15, 2024 from the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Bro. Dan Wade officiating.  Interment, with military honors, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery; 7931 McCrory Lane, Nashville, TN  37221.  Visitation with the family will be at Taylor Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 14th from 4 until 8 p.m. and on Thursday from 11 a.m. until service time at 2 p.m.   For those desiring, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.  Family and friends are invited to Debbie’s house for a meal and fellowship following the chapel service on Thursday.  To view a livestream of the service on Thursday at 2:00 PM, please click HERE.

Jim died peacefully Monday, February 12, 2024 at Dickson Health an Rehab.

 

Born in Glasgow, Montana, Jim was a son of the late George Deleary and the late  Hazel Rowe Deleary Lingle.  He graduated from high school in Glasgow and joined the Army during the Vietnam War.  Jim worked in the service as an operating room medic.  He was medically discharged in 1983 after 19 years’ service, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant (E-6) and went to work in the operating room of Blanchfield Army Community Hospital in Ft. Campbell.

Jim loved sports, whether it was golf, baseball, or Titans Football!  He loved his family and spending time with them, especially his grandchildren. 

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Debbie Underhill Deleary of Dickson; his son John Deleary (Jennifer) of Newark, Ohio; grandchildren, Samantha, Zack, Conner, Shelbie, and Tymothe; great grandson, Noah; brothers, Jerry Deleary of Florida and Donnie Deleary of Mountain Home, Idaho; sisters, Melody Doyle of Texas, Mary Hanson of Alabama, and Marta Deleary of Mountain Home, Idaho; his extended family is Debbie’s family and includes her sisters Janice Hall and Patricia Underhill Wilkins (Morrison) and her brothers, Johnny Underhill (Sandy), Gary Underhill (Glenda), and Paul Underhill (Becky).  He was preceded by sisters, Berniece, Arlene, and Dorothy; and by brothers, Faye and George.
