A graveside service will be held at the Dickson County Memorial Gardens at 4:00 PM on Friday, March 8, 2024 with words of comfort given by Bro. Steve Baggett.

Steven Ragan passed away peacefully the morning of March 4, 2024.  Steve was born on December 6, 1947, and grew up in Woods Valley, Tennessee.  He graduated from Charlotte High School and Austin Peay State University with a degree in biology. He had an uncanny ability to recall the binomial name for nearly every living organism.  He made a career in the Tennessee National Guard as Sergeant Major.  After retirement, he spent time traveling with his wife, Judy, (who passed away only twenty days earlier on February 13, 2024) and growing tomatoes in his backyard.  He also took up golf with his pals, but he quit the game “forever” in frustration at least six times.

Steve was a rabid University of Tennessee fan and was proud of his collection of ceramic Smokey hound dogs that he displayed on the mantle (much to Judy’s chagrin). Unbeknownst to most, he was a fabulous dancer who had fantasized about appearing on the TV show, Solid Gold, but it never panned out. In honor of Steve, take a loved one out on the dance floor and cut loose.

Steve is survived by his daughters Margaret Shelton (Ken) and Cynthia Ragan (Jerry); grandchildren William Berkemeier (Karen), Ashley Shelton, Georgia and Helen Harper Martin; great granddaughter Amelia Berkemeier; sister Pamela Briggs (Carter); nieces Emily Johnson and Grace Briggs; and great nephew and niece Camden and Evelyn Johnson.  Finally, Steve was predeceased by his beloved wife of 52 years, Judy Ragan.
