On April 10, 2025, Tommie Irene Harris Adams passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering faith. Born on October 9th, 1935, and raised in Dickson, Tennessee, she was the cherished daughter of the late Wesley and Gladies Lee Weems Harris. A graduate of Hampton High School class of 1954, she dedicated her life to service—both professionally and spiritually.
For many years, she worked with quiet dignity in the food service industry, eventually retiring from the Dickson County Nursing Home. But mother’s true calling was found in her devotion to family and faith. She was a beloved wife of 68 years, a nurturing mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, whose wisdom, warmth, and guidance touched generations.
Irene was a pillar at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, serving faithfully as a missionary and on the Mother Board, always present to uplift, support, and encourage. Her commitment to ministry was steadfast, her spirit gentle yet firm. One of her most remembered sayings, “If you can’t do better, don’t complain about others,” reflected a life of accountability, grace, and humility.
She leaves behind a community better for having known her, a family rooted in her love, and a testimony that will echo for years to come. In every quiet deed and spoken word, she lived a life that honored God and uplifted those around her.
She was preceded in death by: Her sister Conova Jean Harris, Virginia L. Harris, Annie Mae Crouse, and Helen Rippy. Brothers Charles Wesley Harris, Roy Jr. Harris and Winston Harris.
She is survived by her devoted and loving husband Mack J. Adams, her supportive and loving children, Pamela (Gordon), David (Ernestine), Sabrina, Jacqueline (Jeff), Mitchell, Susie, Tony (Jennifer) and Belinda (Terrence), grandchildren Chris (Ashley), Jay of Nashville, April (Joey) of Knoxville, Jamial, Bryan, Jhe’Dienne of Chattanooga, Harris, Brystol, Montgomery, and great grandchildren, Bryson, Cason, Macie, Amelia, Elliott, Easton. Her brother Dorris "Rabbit" Harris.
Bonus Daughters Rena Bratton, and Rhonda Williams, Lifetime friend Tishie M. Ramey, and Emeritus, Pastor Matthew Lester. Host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many good and faithful friends.
Her memory is a blessing. Her legacy, everlasting.
