Will David Brown, age 81, of Dickson, TN died September 15, 2025 at the Alive Hospice Residence in Nashville, TN after a short stay. David was born in Weakley County, TN, and spent much of his childhood in the loving care of his great-grandfather, Mr. Luke Nunley, affectionately known as “Daddy Luke.” He later moved to Dickson, where he lived with his mother, Ludellia, and his stepfather, Sherman Newsom, a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy.
David graduated with the Hampton High School Class of 1963, where he served as quarterback for the Hampton High Trojans—a role that sparked a lifelong passion for football.
A man of deep faith, David was a lifelong member of the Second Street Church of Christ and, in recent years, took on the role of minister, serving his congregation with dedication.
He shared 60 wonderful years of marriage with Jo Ann Lanier Brown. Together, they built a loving home and raised three children: David Ray, Kelley Dynea, and Nicholas Lanier Brown.
David leaves to cherish his memory: Wife, Jo Ann Lanier Brown, two sons: David (Kimberly) Brown, Nicholas (Fonda) Brown, one daughter, Kelley (Wendell) Stewart; sister, Linda Hoggard; three biological grandchildren, David Brown Jr., Justin (Victoria) Hughes and Sydney Burton; bonus grandchildren, great-grandchildren, two brothers-in-law, Jerry Lanier and Michael Lanier; devoted cousins Doris Grigsby, Mary & Jessica Evans, and Donald Shanklin; nieces, nephews, church family and friends.
