Mrs. Dorothy Mae Buchanan Welch age 89 of Bon Aqua, TN died on August 28, 2024.  A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at the Five Points Church of Christ with Minister Mickey Mathis officiating.  The place of rest will be in the Parker Fowlkes Cemetery.  The visitation will be held at the Taylor Funeral Home on Friday, August 30, 2024 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.  Visitation will be held at the Five Points Church of Christ on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of service.  For those desiring, memorials may be made to the Parker Fowlkes Cemetery.

Dorothy was born October 22, 1934 on Bear Creek in Hickman County, TN.  She was a daughter of the late Lou Bell Myatt Buchanan and Rufus Penick Buchanan, the youngest of their five children. Her father died when she was only 2 years old.  Her family moved to Bellevue, TN when she was 10 years old.  Dorothy graduated from Bellevue High School.  Shortly after graduating, she married Needham Welch.  He was in the U.S. Army, and they lived in El Paso, TX until Mr. Welch left the service, and they returned to Tennessee.  Dorothy worked as a quality control inspector for France Lighting Solutions in Fairview, TN.  She retired after 30+ years of service.  Dorothy loved flowers and always kept potted arrangements on her porch.  She was also fond of her pink dogwood tree and the beauty that it added to the season of Spring.  Dorothy was always such a happy person; she had a very positive attitude, and she always had a smile on her face.  Her joyfulness was partly by choice and partly as a product of a lasting marriage of 69 years, and partly from her faith in God.  Dorothy was a faithful member of the Five Points Church of Christ for nearly 60 years.

She was preceded in death, by her parents, Rufus and Lou Bell Buchanan; her husband, Needham Welch; and her siblings, Evelyn, Buck, Donald, and Curly.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Mike Welch (Wanda), Ricky Welch (Carolyn), and Barry Welch (Tabatha); 8 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild.  Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to acknowledge and thank Gentiva Hospice, Dawn Key (Starr), Angel McGowan, and Mandy Warden for their kindness and care.
