There are two services planned for William S. Coles. The first will be a funeral service on Monday, March 3, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. from the Chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor Tony Rankin officiating. Visitation will be on Monday beginning at 12 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will follow in the Dickson Union Cemetery. The second will be a Celebration of Life Service on March 20, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. from the First Baptist Church Downtown, 108 7th Ave, Nashville, TN with Dr. Thomas West officiating. William Swaney “Bill” Coles, age 88, of Nashville, TN, longtime Nashville banker, died peacefully February 22, 2025, at the Alive Hospice Residence.
He was born in Nashville, Tennessee and was the son of the late John William and Margaret Swaney Coles. He met the love of his life, Faye Dailey Coles, at the former First American Bank in Nashville while she was employed there in the early years and was married to Bill for 62 years until her death in 2024. He was also preceded in death by his son John William Coles II.
He was a graduate of Montgomery Bell Academy and later attended Bowling Green College of Commerce, a school that was later named Gordon Ford College of Business at Western Kentucky University and later attended a financial course at Harvard. Bill was a longtime Nashville banker opening at one time Mortgage South and later worked as an investment broker with Charles Wilson.
Survivors include his daughter-in-law, Stephanie Coles, his three grandchildren Bradley Tanner Coles, Caroline Grace Coles and Natalie Marie Coles, his brother, John R. Coles and his wife Linda.
