Barbara Lee McMillan

Barbara (Ann) Lee McMillan, long-time resident of Dickson, Tennessee, passed away Sunday, May 18, 2025 at the age of 84. A beloved teacher and colleague, Barbara taught 9th grade science for nearly 30 years at Dickson Junior High School. While working full-time as an educator, she earned both her Master’s and Doctorate degrees from Tennessee State University. She later transitioned from the classroom to administration, retiring as Superintendent of Secondary Education for Dickson County.
Barbara’s dedication to service extended beyond the school system. She was deeply involved with the Dickson County Family and Community Education Council, where she held leadership roles for many years. Barbara was also a member of Dickson First United Methodist Church.
She was born on December 9, 1940, in Lewisburg, Tennessee, to Sam and Gertrude Lee. Barbara grew up in Tullahoma, Tennessee, and graduated from Tullahoma High School before earning her undergraduate degree from Austin Peay State University.
Barbara is survived by her husband Robert McMillan; her daughter, Amby (Rick) Thomas; her son, Greg (Tracy) McMillan; her grandchildren, Kaitlin Kelley and Angus McMillan; and her sister, Joyce (Donn) Brown.
She was preceded in death by her father, Sam Lee; her mother, Gertrude Leuthner; and her brother, Ted Lee, Sr.
