Hettie Mildred Thomas Clark, age 98, of Kingston Springs, TN, passed away on Monday, July 14, 2025, at The Meadows Senior Community in Nashville, TN. She was born on October 11, 1926, in Nolensville, TN, to the late William Berry Thomas and Hettie Bell Sullivan Thomas, and was raised in Smyrna, TN.

In addition to her parents, Mildred is preceded in death by her devoted husband of 31 years, Edward Clark. She is also preceded in death by her two brothers, Granville and Earl Thomas. She is survived by her daughter Laquita Harrison (Randall), granddaughter Holly Harrison, a niece and several nephews.

Mildred attended Smyrna High School and graduated in the Class of 1945. After graduating high school, she took business courses and worked as a secretary for Ragland Potter & Co. for 22 years after which she became a full-time homemaker.

Mildred was a devoted Christian, wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a longtime member and faithfully attended the Kingston Springs Church of Christ for 69 years. She was a beloved grandmother figure and her talents were many. She was a community cake baker, crocheted baby blankets, made quilts, clothes, and did alterations for the community. She was crafty in every way. She had a tradition of preparing Christmas breakfast for family and friends for 52 years. In her later days, she loved playing Bingo with the Senior Citizens, attending the Kingston Springs Senior Luncheons, reading the newspaper, watching Jeopardy, telephoning friends, and working Sudoku, crossword, and word search puzzles. She enjoyed sitting on her porch when it was warm outside and she read her Bible every day.

Mildred loved life and being with others! Every day she would get dressed, put on her make-up, and fix her hair so if someone called and wanted to go somewhere, she would be ready. She enjoyed attending any social gathering she was invited to and would often say, “If you don’t want me to go, don’t ask me.” She made the best of every situation in her life and lived it to the fullest.

Mildred had the heart of a servant and her life exemplified, “being content in whatever the circumstances.”

Funeral services will be Friday, July 18, 2025, at 11 AM from the Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Brothers Clay Corlew, Bob Crouch, and Shawn Bain officiating.  Visitation with family will be Thursday, July 17th from 3 to 8 PM and Friday, July 18th from 9am until time of service.
