Janice was born January 21, 1944, in Nashville, Tennessee to the late Harry P. and Lorena Camille Freeman McCown. Her sister Marilyn McCown white also preceded her in death.
A 1962 Graduate of Dickson High School. She was employed as a secretary for the TN Department of Transportation (Region 3) for 40 years before retiring in 2004.
After retiring she enjoyed traveling the NASCAR Circuit with her husband while faithfully cheering on her beloved #3 Car and spending time at her lake home where she enjoyed watching bald eagles and hummingbirds from her lakeside deck. She loved all animals and had many pets throughout the years.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Edward Wayne Simpson of Ashland City TN, her daughter Laura Camille Simpson McCracken and her husband Michael McCracken of Dover TN, her granddaughter Samantha Teets and her husband Taylor Teets of Adams TN. and her lifelong friends Tommy Marvin of Dickson TN, Doug Weiland of Clarksville TN, and Sherry Luther of St. Augustine FL.
As per her wishes, she was cremated with no visitation or funeral service.
