Carl Jackson Martin, Jr. age 89 of Lyles, TN died on October 4, 2026. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 10, 2026 at the Taylor Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Bon Aqua Church of Christ Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
Carl Jr. was born on May 9, 1937 in Bon Aqua, TN. He was a son of the late Carl Jackson Martin Sr. and the late Minnie Bennett Martin. He was a lifetime logger and had worked for McCaleb Logging in Primm Springs. He was a hard-working man, often cutting and splitting wood on his days off. Carl Jr. also operated a scrapping business for hauling metal. He was known for his friendly personality. To know him was to love him. Often when he went to a restaurant, he would spend hours there, with people stopping by to talk to him at his table or while sitting in his truck. His family was important and much loved. He always enjoyed the family gatherings for events and holidays. His nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews were loved as if they were his own children.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Minnie Harper and Sara Stone; and a brother, James Martin.
Carl is survived by his brother, Johnny Martin; 3 sisters, Mary Tidwell, Pearl Ethridge, and Lilly Tucker; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
