Channie Elizabeth Carr Huddleston

Funeral services will be held at 1PM on Friday, August 7, 2026, at New Hope Church. Pastor Roderick Davison will give the eulogy. Visitation will be held on Friday, beginning at 12 Noon until the time of service. Burial will follow in the East Dickson Cemetery.

Channie Elizabeth Carr Huddleston, age 80, of Dickson, TN, passed away July 30, 2026, at Alive Hospice in Nashville, TN. She was born on August 27, 1945, in Dickson, Tennessee, to the late George Eldridge Carr and Pearlie Mae Carr. She peacefully departed this earthly life and entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 30, 2026, at Alive Hospice in Nashville, Tennessee.

At an early age, Channie accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at her family church, Chestnut Grove Baptist Church in Charlotte, Tennessee. She received her education through the Dickson County School System and graduated from Hampton High School. She later continued her education at Tennessee State University.

Following her studies, Channie dedicated her life to serving others through her work. She was employed at Schrader-Scovel Development Center before joining Montgomery Bell State Park, where her exceptional culinary skills became widely known and appreciated. Her gift for preparing nourishing meals brought people from near and far to her table. She later continued her career at the Developmental Health Center of Dickson, Tennessee, where she faithfully served until her retirement. Throughout her years of service, Channie touched countless lives with her warm smile, compassionate heart, and nurturing spirit, leaving a lasting impression on everyone she encountered.

Channie was a devoted member of New Hope Baptist Church, where she worshipped faithfully under the pastoral leadership of Reverend Matthew Lester and now Pastor Roderick Davidson. She served diligently on the Pastor’s Aide Committee and the Mother’s Board, demonstrating her unwavering commitment to her church family and her love for the Lord.

In her retirement, Channie found great joy in gardening, spending cherished time with family and friends and creating precious memories with her grandchildren. Above all, she loved cooking. There was truly no place like “Channie’s Kitchen.” Whenever family and friends longed for a delicious home-cooked meal, Channie gladly welcomed them with open arms and prepared every dish from scratch, seasoning each meal with love. Her kitchen became a place of comfort, fellowship, and treasured memories that will live on in the hearts of those she loved. In addition to her parents, Channie was preceded in death by her beloved son, Kevin Huddleston; and her siblings, Homer Douglas, Charles Melvin, Isaiah Leroy, Leonard Walker, Martha Wanda Louise, Elvin Elonzo, and Jetty Wallace Carr.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory her devoted children: sons, Corey Eugene Huddleston and Christopher Maurice Huddleston; daughter, Carla Lynn (Sam) Bancroft; grandchildren, Wesley Huddleston, Courtney Huddleston, and Ethan James Bancroft; four great-grandchildren; siblings, Georgia James, Gloria (William) Wigfall, Betty (Michael) Grigsby, Allen (Patricia) Carr, Mary Bromell, and Ralph Carr; a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, extended familymembers, and dear friends. She also leaves behind her special friends, Doris Grigsby, Joanne Brown, Tisha Mae Ramey, and Lynn Anderson.

Channie’s legacy of kindness, hospitality, and devotion will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know and love her. Though she will be deeply missed, her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those whose lives she touched.
