Eleanor A. Whitaker May 6, 1943 – May 18, 2026

Eleanor A. Whitaker, age 83, of Dickson, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2026, surrounded by the love of family and the memories of a life well lived.

Born on May 6, 1943, in Lawrence County, Tennessee, Eleanor was the daughter of the late Onus Henry Adams and Christine Shade Foust Adams. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by all of her siblings.

Eleanor was a woman who found joy in life’s simple and meaningful moments. She cherished time spent with her beloved granddaughter, Grace, creating memories that will forever be treasured. Some of her happiest times were spent taking drives with her husband, enjoying the beauty of the world around them and simply being together. She also enjoyed going on walks and appreciated the peace and beauty found in nature. Butterflies held a special place in her heart, serving as gentle reminders of beauty, hope, and the quiet blessings found in everyday life.

Those who knew Eleanor will remember her caring spirit, her quiet strength, and the love she carried for her family. She leaves behind a legacy not measured by grand accomplishments, but by the countless moments of love, care, and kindness she shared with those around her.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Calvin Floyd Whitaker; her daughter, Julie Haynes; her son, Daniel Whitaker; her cherished granddaughter, Grace Haynes; and several nieces and nephews who will all carry her memory in their hearts.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at 3:00 PM from the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Cochran officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 20, 2026, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Thursday from 1:00 PM until the time of service. Burial will take place Friday, May 22, 2026, at 12:15 PM at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

Though Eleanor’s presence will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort knowing the love she gave and the memories she created will remain for generations to come.

“Like butterflies, beautiful souls leave behind wings of memories that never fade.”
