Jerry Lewis Hargrove, age 82 of Dickson, TN died on August 15, 2026.  A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at the Taylor Funeral Home with Bro. Randy Franklin officiating.  Place of rest will be in the Edwards Cemetery.  The visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2026 from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM.  For those desiring, memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to the Humane Society of Dickson County.

Jerry was born on October 19, 1943 in Dickson, TN.  He was a son of the late Elmer Lewis Hargrove and Ethel Pauline Garton Hargrove Brothers.  He was a Veteran, having served his Country in the United States Army.  He was employed for 10 years as a firefighter with the Dickson Fire Department.  Jerry, better known as “PaPaw” to his grandchildren, was a family man and a people person.  He loved his family and any occasion to spend time with them.  He could and would talk to anybody he met or might be standing in close proximity.  He kept an open-door policy at his home, friends knew they were always welcome to stop by for a cup of coffee and a conversation.  In recent years his favorite past times were fishing and watching westerns and Andy Griffith.

In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by grandchildren, Hunter Hargrove and Brian Davidson; great grandchildren, Axel Ray Hargrove and Ka’Mari Simpson; a son-in-law, Gary Davidson.

Jerry is survived by the love of his life and best friend for 63 years, Betty “Jo” Hamilton Hargrove; his children, Pam Davidson, Tim Hargrove (Jodi), Sherry Pruitt (Wesley), and Rodney Hargrove; a sister, Pat Hill (Larry); grandchildren, Amy Davidson, Chad Hargrove (Elizabeth), Brad Hargrove (Amy), Chris Pruitt (Abby), Sara Pruitt; great grandchildren, Jada Davidson (Khi Harris), Leah Davidson, Hudson Hargrove, Lainey Hargrove, Steven Habletzel, Nick Sanderson, and one on the way; sisters-in-law, Shirley Hamilton, and Judy Harrell.  Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family members.

The Jerry Hargrove family would like to acknowledge and share their appreciation for every act of kindness shown to them during his illness and passing.
