Randy Lynn Johnson, age 61 of Dickson, TN died on December 17, 2025.  A funeral service will be held at 11:00 Saturday, December 20, 2025 at the Taylor Funeral Home with Carl Sullivan officiating.  The visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the time of service.  Interment will be in the Edgewood Cemetery.

Randy was born on May 21, 1964 in Dickson, TN.  He was a son of the late Robin Johnson, Jr.  and the late Margaret Daniel Johnson.  Randy was a kind and generous man who would give his last dollar to help a friend.  He like spending time at his “home away from home” – Gatlinburg and the Smokey Mountains.  Randy was a hardworking man.  He was a truck driver for 35 years.  While driving, he was known as “Slab” on the cb radio.  Slab loved driving truck #01, “he and that truck together were one.”

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Johnson; and his dog, Peanuts.

Randy is survived by his life long partner, Tammy Dawson; his son, John Johnson (Alyson); his grandson, Kaiden James Dawson; 2 sisters, Brenda Cathey (Bubba), and Glenda Sullivan (Carl); sister-in-law, Connie Johnson.  Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

  1. Uncle Randy was so easy to love and had the best sense of humor. His smile was infectious and his eyes twinkled like Memaw’s when he was really tickled. Will miss him and keep him in my heart.

  2. My sister Mary and Randy were great friends. Last time I seen him was at her funeral 12/21/25. God Bless the whole family.

    He was so hard working. Loved to laugh.
    Would never deny my. dog, a roll in his beautiful grass…he took such good care of. Jim will miss their chats. I’ll miss denying him my baked goods.

  4. Shared a lot of laughter and good times with him. He was always there for those he loved. Always. And the most devoted son to Memaw Johnson. He was her right hand. And she would let you know that no matter how old he was he was still her baby. Heaven gained a good man. He will be missed ♥️

  5. Randy, was a special down to earth friend. He was humble and Kind.He thought of others before himself. His truck # 1 describes him well cause he was.His laughter was the greatest when he was joking around.All, that knew him will carry his memory forward in all the stories we share forever loved.

  8. Randy was always cutting up and laughing with my dad, Jeffrey McClurkan, at our house and they would drink a beer or two together. Randy was a good son to his mother Margaret who I had the privilege to know. Randy was like an uncle to me.

  10. Randy was always very nice to me when I visited Margaret. He let me drive his pickup while he was at work. Prayers for Brenda, Glenda, and the rest of his family.
