Roger David Manning, age 81, of Burns, passed from this life on June 11, 2026, in his home surrounded by his family.
Visitation with the family will take place on Sunday, June 14, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Taylor Funeral Home. A private family graveside service will be held at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens.
Roger was born on September 20, 1944, in Oceanside, California, to the late Second Lieutenant Robert Lee Manning (USMC) and the late Juanita Anderson Manning.
Roger was a hardworking and dedicated businessman. After beginning his career at Methodist Publishing House, he went on to establish his own successful camera graphics business, where he built lasting relationships and earned the respect of those who knew and worked with him. Through his hard work and success, Roger was able to retire at an early age and devote himself to another passion—farming. He spent many years raising cattle and producing hay on his farm, taking great pride in the land he loved and the life he built for his family.
For 60 years, Roger shared a loving and devoted marriage with his wife, Carolyn. Together they created a home filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support for their family.
Roger was known for his kind and generous heart. He never met a stranger and had a way of making everyone feel welcome and valued. He loved spending time with his family, and those who knew him will always remember his warm smile, gentle spirit, and his well-known love for a cold Pepsi.
To his family, Roger was more than a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather—he was their hero. He was the best and kindest-hearted man they have ever known, and his example inspired those around him to be better people. His legacy of love, integrity, humility, and compassion will continue to live on through the many lives he touched.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Carolyn Manning of Burns; his children, Neil Manning (Kelly) of Burns and Lea Ann England (Gary) of Dickson; his brother, Gary Sanders (Carolyn) of Murfreesboro; his grandchildren, Amanda Scarbrough (Daniel) of Burns, Myles England of Dickson, and Austin Manning (Gabbie) of Dickson; and his great-grandson, Ezra Scarbrough.

I’m so sorry to hear of your loss Carolyn, Neil, Kelly, Amanda, Daniel, Myles, & Austin, and his great grandchildren. To read that he was surrounded by his loving family tells the great story of his legacy of generosity, welcoming personality, and devotion to his family. Thanks to all of the Manning family for welcoming my dear nephew, Daniel into your wonderful family. I’ll always remember the great times we had together on your beautiful farm, especially Amanda and Daniel’s wedding. It was an honor to know you, and enjoy the warm hospitality of your home. We’ll meet again, on the rolling green fields of home. My heart reaches to you all.
Gregg and I will never forget Roger. He was such a kind person and the cruise was one of the best times of our lives. We pray hard for family and Carolyn, always a wonderful friend and mentor. Condolences !
His daughter, Lea Ann, was one of my best friends growing up and I spent many nights at their home in west Nashville. Mr Manning was always so nice and always had a great sense of humor. I’m praying for comfort for Mrs Manning, Lea Ann, and family.
